Real Estate Agent Commissions
The commissions charged by agents do vary. Depending on the country where the property is located, the demand for the property you’re selling and the price your property is likely to achieve at sale, the commission charged by an agent may vary greatly.
What we’ve tried to do below is give you an indication of the commissions that are typically charged in to give you an idea of what you may be charged. Obviously the amount you are charged ultimately will depend on what you negotiate with your agent.
IMPORTANT: in every country the commission charged by an agent is negotiable. In some countries this is regulated by law.
Within each country we've found that the amount charged by agents varies. We've outlined below what the typical real estate commissions are as a guide.
Real estate commission in generally range from 3% - 12 %*. In Spain is more usual to be 5% than 8%.
*Note: The quoted real estate commissions are only indicative of what we have found and are to be used as a guide only.
The amount of commission you pay is obviously important because at the end of the day it comes directly out of your sale price and indirectly – your pocket. It is also the “motivating” factor for an Estate Agent and its associates.
